Dear Parent or Guardian of a Rising High School Senior:

My name is Trish Portnoy, and I’m the author of College Apps: Selecting, Applying to, and Paying for the Right College for You (ISBN: 978-1285098296).  For the past twenty-five years, I’ve been an educator at West Islip Public Schools where I developed a curriculum to support high school seniors through the process of applying to college.

The course, College Freshman Seminar, was well-received and is held in high regard by students, parents, and guidance counselors.  Feedback revealed that the combination of guided exercises, small group instruction and teacher-support greatly reduced stress-levels while promoting confidence and wise decision-making.

Most recently, I self-published a booklet titled, How to Help Your High School Senior Apply to College (ISBN: 979-8987129715).  This quick-read explains the process to parents and provides opportunities for guidance, participation, and feedback.https://m.media-amazon.com/images/P/B0BKGV3Z7S.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_SX500_.jpg

This fall, we’re offering the coursework during two-hour, weekly seminars over a ten-week period beginning in September and continuing through the end of November. Our team of instructors will guide students through the college application process providing instruction, structure, and organization during this critical time.

Through the materials fee, students will receive their own College Planning Binder®, instructional handouts and access to our online learning platform.  Parents will also receive a copy of How to Help Your High School Senior Apply to College which offers ways to support each other throughout the process.

During the preliminary Course Introduction & Registration Session, course materials will be distributed; both parents and students should attend.  Pre-registration materials are available at www.TrishPortnoy.com where you can also learn more about me and my college planning resources.
